When I first sat down to write this I thought there’s two
strange bedfellows in the title, but as I thought more of it sadly they’re not.
Forty Faced Fucker Maeve & Rapist Protector Adams |
It would seem that there isn’t a day goes past when we
hear about someone suffering an attack of a sexual nature, or someone being convicted
of an attack. But what’s astounding is the platform taken by some politicians.
Everyone in their right mind would agree that those who
commit such acts should be forced to face the consequences of their actions in
a court and that their victim(s) are given the help and support they need.
Everyone in their right mind would agree that those who willingly cover up such
abuse should also be brought before a court too.
There was a horrific case in the media yesterday about a
young Derry girl who suffered horrific abuse, and I hope that she recovers from
her ordeal.
Never one to miss an opportunity for party promotion Derry $inn
£ein MLA Maeve McLaughlin who is chair of the Stormont Health Committee was out
calling for an inquiry into child exploitation.
This is something that should be welcomed by everyone.
But then you think to yourself, well I did anyway, what a forty faced fucker!
When her party colleague Liam Adams admitted to his
brother Gerry Adams, $inn £ein President that he had raped and abused his own
daughter the party did nothing.
Liam Adams $inn Fein rapist was moved around the country,
Liam Adams $inn Fein rapist was later employed in a position where he was
working with children, and his brother $inn £ein president Gerry Adams did
nothing, despite this being on their home turf of West Belfast!
Although knowing all this and espite claiming
he was estranged from his brother during this time Gerry did dedicate one of his
books directly to his rapist brother, go to his wedding, go canvassing with him....
Maeve McLaughlin went on further to say in the case of this
young woman in the press yesterday ‘We need to reflect on the young girl and
ensure that she and those around her get all support necessary’
So what support did $inn £ein give to another young girl
in Belfast who was raped by a member of the provos?
The girl stated in an interview with
the Tribune Newspaper that Gerry Adams knew of her accusations and said Sinn
Fein members Seamus Finucane and Padraic Wilson, who were IRA members at the
time met her.
She strongly
criticised the republican movement's handling of her case saying that IRA
members made her come face-to-face with her alleged abuser so they could
"read the body language" between them.
She also
believes the IRA facilitated the man's move across the Irish border to live in
Donegal. This brave young lady has a strength I cannot begin to fathom, and has moved heaven & earth to have her attacker brought before the courts. She even published an open letter on the subject of abuse and its cover up, you can read it here.
Sadly in both of these cases this would seem to be the ‘modus operandi’ for $inn £ein
when dealing with allegations of a sexual nature against one of their own and
would mirror the Liam Adams case, he was shifted across the border and his
victim was taken to face her abuser, in this case by her uncle Gerry Adams.
And this brings me back to MLA Maeve McLaughlin, maybe
before Maeve starts calling for an inquiry into child exploitation she should
first call on her party to deal with the perverts and those who covered up for
them in their own ranks.
She should lead by example and by doing so prove to
victims that $inn £ein has their best interests at heart, anything less is
tokenism and lip service.
