A tale of two socialists

'Defend the vital democratic principle of decent wages for elected representatives.'

Alasdair McDonnell SDLP Party Leader, MLA & MP

The infamous comment by 2 jobs McDonnell when he thought elected representatives should get more money, what about the ordinary man in the street? What about the man living on the street?

And then today it turns out that Alasdair  has claimed expenses for staying in hotels when attending Westminster while at the same time he claimed £13,000 in stamp duty, £1300 on new blinds & £86,000 on interest on a property he bought and is renting out.

And what about the other socialist Gerry Adams, despite his lies that his holiday home in Donegal is owned by the bank, it was found to be mortgage free. And lets not forget his trip to the states for private medical treatment on his arse. At the time Adams denied that his actions were hypocritical, given his previous criticisms of the "privatisation" of the health service here. He said it was not always possible for citizens to get the type of treatment they required in Ireland.

Fair enough but how many citizens would be able to afford to go to America for treatment, never mind having their treatment paid for.

It must be great being a socialist!

I just hope people remember this when they crawl to their doors looking for your vote.

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick!

Common sense has prevailed and Newtownabbey Council have changed their mind on the Reduced Shakespeare Company performing their play - The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged).

Some Unionist members of the Council objected saying that it mocked the Christian faith and that they had complaints about it and it was blashpemous and blocked the performance of the play. At one point they even tried to equate the performance to that of a live sex show, now that would've been a sold out performance.

Belfast Comedian Jake O'Kane said 'They call themselves moral guardians - they weren't elected to be moral guardians. We elected them to empty our bins, make sure the leisure centres were open - that's the powers they have'.

And there is part of the problem with Northern Iron, self appointed moral guardians, that seem to think they have more authority than  they actually do.

I respect the right of people to worship the gods of their choosing, or not to worship as the case may be, for myself I'm such a lapsed Catholic I've seen my Rabbi more than my Priest!

But as with everything there is always one shining beacon of hypocrisy, one numpty that outshines all other numpties, and this award goes to, surprise surprise, the DUP's Paul Girvan,  MLA for South Antrim.

Not as funy as Jake O'Kane, and not as big a riot as Nigel Dodds, Girvan had me laughing my ass off, in the BBC he said 'If a similar play was coming forward in relation to another religion I would be taking the same stance... if it was poking fun at those of a Muslim faith I wouldn't be too keen to bring that forward either.'

Is that right Paul? Now Paul as a member of the Catholic loving Orange Order might be familiar with these words ''I do declare that I am not, nor ever was, a Roman-Catholic or Papist'. And would your former party leader be the person who once verbally abused the Pope by calling him the anti christ and recently protested against against the visit of the last pope to Scotland.

So Paul you win ballroot of the week!

And p.s.

 For my friends in Newtownabbey!

And p.p.s. I don't remember Paisley ever protesting against Islam?

The sheer courage of some, the hypocrisy of others.

I stood with hundreds yesterday along the windswept Derry Quay at the peace bridge to show support for the Quigley family who despite the ongoing tragedy over the loss for Andy Quigley who has been mising now for over a week showed courage in continuing the protest.

Dee Quigley Andy's uncle called the protest a few weeks ago after it was announced that funding for Foyle Search & Rescue & Hurt were denied funding to expand a counselling service. Little did he or his family know what was to come.

Despite the ongoing search for Andy the family bravely continued with the event yesterday, and as Andy's mother addressed the crowd, I stood and marvelled at the courage and determination that Colette Quigley demonstrated. A young lady who has suffered through using drugs also addressed the crowd as did Dee Quigley. The young lady spelled out from her exerience what many of our young people face, she was very brave to bare her soul and hopefully some of those in a position of 'power' would've listened to what she and the Quigley's said.

Colette Quigley at Derry's peace bridge
Some of those in power were there yesterday, members of $inn Fein and members of the SDLP, and I thought to myself you bunch of forty faced fuckers, members of your parties denied the funding to Hurt & Foyle Search & Rescue, but you have the nerve to stand here today as people were gathering to protest at decisions your party colleagues made. I didn't see Councillor Paul Fleming there to justify his decision, nor did I see SDLP Councillor Ann Donnelly both members of the group that denied the funding. I however did see Pat Ramsey, Mark h Durkan, Emmet Doyle and Angela Dobbins of the SDLP, and Elsiha McCallion & Lynn Fleming of $inn Fein.

Speaking to a number of people there they were as disgusted as I was at the hypocrisy of this. I'm not denying anyone the right to assemble and show solidarity with the Quigley family, but unless these elected representatives come out and condemn the decision not to support these two charities then they are as complicit as those who made the decision.

I'm sure in light of yesterdays gathering that there are moves going on behind the scenes involving some serious back peddling to try and help those who made the decision save face.

If saving face is what it takes to get the funding in place and save lives then let these people save face, because I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants the resources there to help those who need it, even if those who made a wrong decision have to save face. And no matter how big of a face saving exercise they pull everyone knows that a shameful decision was made, the names of those who made the shameful decision and the parties/organisations they belong to.

The carrot, the stick or just a plain ol bribe?

It would seem that when all else fails all you have to do is chuck some money at it and a problem goes away.

What happens when the $hinners withdrew their 'community workers' from patroling the area near the fountain? They got more funding. What happens when the parties won't accept the Haass proposals? The British government states it 'would seriously consider any Stormont request for additional resources should the parties reach a deal on flags, parades and the past' we so said Theresa Villiers.

In fairness the only person to actively challenge funding to paramilitaries was former SDLP leader Margaret Ritchie who as Social Development Minister withdrew funding for the Conflict Transformation Initiative because the UDA failed to decommission, and the fact that they were engaging in violence.

From turning a blind eye to violence or the buying off of people with high paid community jobs filled by low wit $hinners it seems there is no problem money can't fix.

It's a pity the thousands of children live below the poverty line, or pensioners and people on benefits who have to decide whether to heat or eat haven't a few grenades or guns lying about, if they did the British Government would throw millions of pounds at them.

The parties in $tormont will be working out how to cream what they can for their communities, not the community as a whole mind you, just the faithful believers and chosen ones.

Next week it could be your son

Kieran Quigley, uncle of Andy Quigley

There is an article in the Derry Journal online (below) about the search for missing Derry teenager Andy Quigley. If there is something that should galvanise the politicians to do something to support young people it's events like this. If there is something that should galvanise support for Foyle Search & Rescue in light of them being denied funding to expand their services in conjunction with drugs charity hurt it's this.  Young people need opportunity, young people need our support, lets not let them down.

 ____________________________________________________
The devastated uncle of a Derry teenager who it’s feared has taken his own life has said something has to be done to stop more young people “slipping through the net” of support services in the city.

Andy Quigley, 19, from Galliagh went missing in the early hours of Saturday morning. His coat and other personal effects were later found on the Foyle Bridge.

His family and friends and members of the community have been conducting searches along the banks of the Foyle and in the river since Saturday morning.

Andy’s uncle, Dee Quigley said he believed his nephew, who had a history of using drugs, had been let down by a lack of support services for drugs users needing a detox facility in the city.

“The resources are not there. This week it is our wee boy. Next week it could be your wee boy, your son, your daughter, your friend. We need to do something to stop letting our young people down.”

Meet Colly & Dermy from the BelfastDerry branch of the SDLP

Are you gonna bark all day little doggie?
Let me introduce Colm 'The big dog' O'Connor & Dermy haircut' Henderson Two SDLP Candidates from Derry. Now I have no time for political parties, and I'm not going to attack two young men on any personal level.

BUT!!!!

Haircut!
How can the SDLP ask people to vote for candidates who live in Belfast?  Haircut Henderson states on his facebook that he can be contacted day or night if people need his help. Which is admirable, but unless either of these two fellas have developed technology that allows teleportation then they're going to have difficulty in working directly with their constituents.

If this is the best that the SDLP can do then I would say the $hinners will romp home - and thats just ever so slightly worse that the Stoops getting elected.

It does the heart good!

I see a number of community activists are coming forward and throwing their iron in the fire for the up coming local government elections.

With the gerrymandered PR system and the new 'super councils' this may be the last chance to wrestle some control back to the communities from the bloodsucking parasites that masquerade as politicians.

When the time comes, don't vote tribal - vote independent, I know when I get the chance I will!

Ok - This guy is in Donegal but, still vote independent!

Lets play spot the $hinner!

Meanwhile in Creggan
If there's money about you can be sure that $inn £ein aren't that far away. And what better money to get than money that should be going into communities that need it. $hinners are the only fuckers I now who have turned nepotism (political or biological) into an art form. I saw an email yesterday from a thing a fella put online pointing out how a leading Derry $hinner was a director of a couple of companies so I did a bit of digging online.

What is interesting is how these community stalwarts have the time to do anything, they are directors of so many companies. And as the Sentinel paper revealed a while back the $hinners have been giving their own party members jobs, without an interview, that they aren't qualified for.

So here's a quick overview of $hinners in the Derry area and the boards they sit on, there's also a list $hinner affiliated community groups.

SO LOOK AT THIS LIST BELOW - HOW MANY $HINNERS AN YOU SPOT?
( and how many use variations of their name?)
